Exhibits
The very successful Romanian Culture Exhibit
ended October 31st.  Plans are being made for next year's featured exhibit, "The Beat Goes On", scheduled to open on Sunday, May 2 and run through October 31, 2010

Georgiana Costa relates the history of her Aunt Lucretia Canja, honored in Romania as a heroine, with her son, Tim, and grandson, Nick.

The Salem community has had and continues to have a strong influence from the Romanian society.  The names of Copacia, Monda, Buta, Costa, Cosma, Bosu, Orashan, Ursu, Canja, Pridon, Cerbu, Oana, Maier, and Sulea, are a but a few that have contributed to Salem's history and/or exhibit.

Their rich heritage is currently on display at the Salem Historical Society museum located at 208 South Broadway Avenue.  The exhibit is featured in the special display room, but because of the many artifacts loaned, items are displayed throughout the museum.  Normal visiting hours is Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. For further information, contact the museum, 330-337-8514.

The museum gift shop also has the recently published 222-page book THE ROMANIANS OF SALEM, OHIO 1900-2000 which features the contributions of many of these families.  An important addition to this book, not previously available, is a ten page index.
